An idea for Mentoring teachers one-on-one in their classroom

Issue Addressed:

How to help teachers value their children's ways of thinking?

Solution:

We find that asking teachers to predict what their children would do if given a task on the spot gets them curious, and they often pose the task themselves. Once they have made some commitment to a prediction, they are naturally interested in explaining whether the children are answering or acting in the way they predicted. This can get them immersed in the children's own mathematical ways, leading to more productive planning/ assessment on their part.
