subject: Welcome!
Welcome to our discussion, "Developing and discussing classroom assessment
strategies. " We hope that in this discussion, we can explore together
question such as: Where can we find, or how can we develop, questions that
explore students' understanding of the concepts and methods of science? Can
we share good examples, sources, and useful ideas to help us invent and
evaluate such questions? Who has gotten their pupils to develop the skills
and habits of self-assessment? How can peer assessment be encouraged, and
how is it best used?

We recommend that you start by writing briefly who you are, what project
you're from, and what question or interest you bring to this discussion; or
you may want to respond directly to the "seeding questions" above.

Note from Brian Drayton:
This will be a many-sided conversation, of course, but Paul's
participation is key, and so we wanted to mention that Paul has identified
several "windows" during which he'll be able to read and respond actively,
over the course of the discussion. So if he seems to fall silent for a few
days, be patient, he'll be back in reach of a web browser soon enough!
