Hi, I'm Janie West, Professional Development Coordinator for a newly
funded LSC for elementary science reform. Our project, A.S.S.E.T. (Academic
Success for Students and Educators Together) involves K-8 teachers in 4
rural counties in Southwest Virginia. Our plans are to begin professional
development in August with K-2 teachers in the use of a science module. We
hope to integrate assessments, inquiry learning strategies, learning styles,
and effective questioning strategies with the content instruction. We would
appreciate recommendations for good consultants to use in some of our
professional development sessions. Any words of wisdom from the more
experienced members of this group will be greatly appreciated.
