The D.E.S.E.R.T. (District-wide Emphasis on Science Education Reform in Tuscon) Project: Storylines and Other Resoures for K-5 Science Modules

D.E.S.E.R.T.'s Web site contains many valuable resources for teachers and administrators. Each science module includes an overview and links to areas that contain storylines, teacher sharing and tips, major concepts, and Internet resources.

When referring to the storylines, Gail Paulin, Co-PI, writes that they were taken from the FOSS manuals in the kits and adapted to the standard graphic to help teachers locate and focus on the big ideas. D.E.S.E.R.T. has added the storyline pages to the front of every manual since they find them to be so helpful to teachers. For the kits that were not FOSS, they have created storylines in the same format. Elementary Principals have also been sent a set of storylines so that when they visit a classroom during a science lesson, they are more familiar with the concepts that are being developed.

To access this Web site, click on the link below. When you click this link, you will see elementary science core modules. Click on one of these modules to access storylines and other resources.
