"Project 2061 has done a mighty favor to K-12 science. The project has organized what appeared to be a bazillion seemingly disparate learning goals or benchmarks -- describing what a child should know and be able to do -- into related ideas that develop sophistication over the course of grade levels.
The result is an actual map -- called Atlas for Science Literacy -- that shows graphically what concepts need to be in place -- and at what point during elementary, middle or high school -- in order for students to build the capacity to grasp 2061's highly ambitious 12th grade science benchmarks." -- Julia Steiny taken from the Providence Journal (Rhode Island), Sunday, January 21, 2001.
