subject: classroom assessment professional development
One of the most promising and exciting professional development
activities we have implemented is training teachers to use performance
tasks, questioning strategies and diagnosis of computation problems to
reveal differences in student understanding of number. Susan Friel,
co-PI, led a weeklong math development workshop which engaged teachers
in using the Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) model to analyze and
categorize different types of computation problems.
