Our district K-6 requirements specify one Earth science kit, one Life science kit, and one Physical science kit per year from the baseline selections (FOSS and/or Insights). The district and state standards also specify a balanced program of Earth, Life, and Physical science concepts along with Scientific Thinking (through a hands-on, inquiry based program and teaching).
