So far we have encountered minimal "backlash", but I am sure more will come! We have had similar experiences with most parents in that they wish they had been taught this (inquiry-based, hands-on) way. We are realizing that there will always be some resistance, however, so bringing as many "on board" as possible to get the critical mass, so to speak, seems to be vitally important. We have correlated our curriculum to the state instructional goals and objectives, so it is fairly easy to show that the "basics" are being covered through this program.
