Welcome to the TEECH-LSC discussion group on classroom based assessments
and professional development. This group will be co-moderated by Mack
McCary and Brian Drayton, and will run for about 6 weeks. Please start
off by posting a short message with your name & project, and a query you
would like to see addressed. In addition, we strongly encourage you to
find time to post at least once during this time -- it is fine to mostly
listen and learn from the dialogue, but if everyone does it, there will
be nothing to listen to!
Some questions that might get things started: In what ways do you use
classroom-based assessments to shape your professional development
program? What kinds of assessments do you make use of (e.g. standard
tests, performance evaluations, portfolios)? What is the interaction
between classroom assessments and external assessments? In your teacher
professional development activities, do you have teachers design
assessments, or critique assessments developed by others?
