Your measures and high-stakes measures
|
While observing in classrooms recently, I have talked with teachers about their assessment practices, and realized that the day-to-day assessments, by which teachers "know what the kids know" often are rather unlike the assessments that the state or district mandate as part of their standards-based tests. Some teachers are very clear that the "official" tests are not very informative for their purposes. Do you find such a disjunction in your area, and if so, what strategies are emerging to address the questions that this problem raises?
