There are several teachers in my school district who see a need to individualize their instruction to meet the needs of their diverse student population. They are considering doing a center rotation, small group instruction model but are concerned about giving "shut up sheets" to the groups who are working independently while a group is meeting with the teacher. Does anyone have any research/source material on successful approaches to this concern?
