State High School Exit Exams: Put to the Test

author: Keith Gayler, Naomi Chudowsky, Nancy Kober, Madlene Hamilton
description: This report is the second part of a multi-year study of state high school exit exams and it updates and expands on the first year's findings. It contains original research on topics including the costs associated with these exams, states' responses to increased pressure about these exams' impacts, and the exams' interactions with No Child Left Behind. The State Profiles section at the end of the report describes and presents data on the exit exams for each of the 24 states that have or plan to have these tests in place by 2008.
