subject: defining the role
Just to get some discussion going I'd like to say, Misty's comments about
the lack of opportunity for teachers to engage in reflective discussion
really fits our situation in Tucson. Our teacher leaders (Collaborative
Teachers CT's) have just begun in August 98 and they are asking similar
questions about their roles and how best to introduce/facilitate these
teacher conversations. Our early work with principals indicate that they too
lack this time with their peers and also with staff. Our CT's are wondering
where to begin?
Any one have suggestions?
BTW ...There is a very nice little article (3pgs) by Bob Garmston called
Expert Teachers Carry a Satchel of Skills JSD Spring 1998 that has some
practical suggestions for setting up dialogue/discussion. It might be useful
for lead teachers.
