subject: Mesa Systemic Initiative teacher leaders
Two of MSI's most important goals are: 1.)Establish site-based learning
communities for science and mathematics, and 2.) Develop leadership at each
school to support science, mathematics and technology improvement. These
goals are both related to leadership. During the past year, 280 teachers
held site-based leadership positions:
44 elementary technology liaisons
53 elementary district technology liaisons
48 elementary math mentors
97 elementary science liaisons
18 elementary science synergy teachers
12 junior high technology synergy teachers
12 junior high science synergy teachers
12 junior high mathematics synergy teachers

These teachers participated in extensive training, which has included
monthly meetings addressing curriculum content, pedagogy and leadership
skills. They have functioned in different leadership roles at their schools,
are members of their school leadership/planning teams and have contributed
to their site-based learning communities.
